W ~ wallboard, watt, whisky, and WC

In Swedish, “v” and “w” are pronounced the same, “v” as in Victor. In the dictionary, there is no separate “w” section, the “w” words are intermingled with all the "v" words. I found four. Total. So better than Q, but not much. Then there's the fact that all four words are lifted from other languages. Because of all of the above, I'm making today about ordering a beer, as promised.

Of course I'll tell you the words, since you're dying to know. Wallboard. Watt. Whisky. WC, which is British, stands for water closet, and refers to a restroom.

Beer time!
Jag vill ha en öl. We'll take this individually, then put them together again.
Jag = I , pronounced yog, as in dog, with y as in yellow. YOG.
Vill = will, pronounced like will, only with a V as in Victor. VILL.
Ha = have, pronounced haw as in “hee-haw”. HAW.
En = an, pronounced exactly the same. EN.
Öl = beer, pronounced err( as in umm, err...but take off the r) and add double LL's.  ELL.

YOG VILL HAW AN ELL. Or, if your message is not coming through, point to one at another table. The “postcard” I shared above is of Swedish brand beers.

Announcements:
Accept my challenge and write me a sentence in Swedish (and it's OK to put some English words in there, as in “I'm going to my sommarstuga in min egen bil.” Our graduation/participation button is almost ready for taking.  Jeremy, our resident digital artist is making it just for us. (There will also be other, “I survived the challenge” bling for your taking next week.)

Reflections Posts Mark your calendars for May 7th, the start of the sign-ups for writing your thoughts, ideas, and generally all about your experience during the challenge. If you want a sample, here's mine from last year

I see what you're saying but I'm not up for writing anything in Swedish this morning. I'm trying to read as many blogs as I can before my grandson wakes up.

Oh, what a useful thing to be able to say! Though I'm pretty sure I'm having trouble pronouncing beer... that isn't very natural to my American tongue.

Stopping in via the A-Z blogging challenge. I enjoyed my stop at your blog and I'm looking forward to reading many more of your posts. To write you a sentence in Swedish I'd have to cheat and use Google Translate :)

Jag skulle vilja bjuda in dig att vara min vän och följa varandra. Gud välsigne er. ✽ KC

OH god. No. Really? No. I barely speak ENGLISH!!!!
But, trust me, I was entertaining myself mightily trying out your pronounciation!!!!
How do you say "new follower" in Swedish???

Writing Swedish? Hmmmm...

Mina svenska favorit-ord är "trottoir" och "fönster". Roligt nog tror jag båda två har sina utsprung i franska.

(How did I do?)

(Okay, being Norwegian is probably considered cheating in this game. I probably misspelled lots of things in the above, though. My pronunciation is better than my written Swedish :P )

Also, I forgot, my VERY favourite Swedish word would be "fika". We don't have that/do that in Norwegian. Too bad!

I still don't quite feel up writing a whole sentence.

Hey Tina,
I'm terribly sorry that you've not had many comments from me lately. This new medication has left me even more zombiefied than usual.
Anyway, how do you pronounce Volkswagen is Swedish?
Of course, I'm mega excited about all those reflections posts :)
Take care and happy alphabeting.

I'll have to figure out how to say He will have a beer. I'm not really a fan with the stuff. I'll stick with the coffee which, as you've said, is plentiful. :)
