I don't miss you at all
(Norah said so)
I don't think of your smile
(twinkling at me across the room, breathing
life, and promise, and
adventures)
Your dark eyes don't haunt me
(because I pretend,
that I don't remember
the promise, the plans, the thrill)
And I (don't) wonder who I am (anymore)
without the warm touch of your hand
(because you eventually made your choice)
But still,
as I sit and watch the snow falling down
I do miss you
while
while
The broken promise
And the “what if” still
play a distant melody
in my heart.

Loved your piece...Most excellent!
Well done. The "no I don't miss you at all" translates into what is really a profound loss.
Yeah, as much as we don't miss them...still they have that place in our heart. Lovely poem...
And I adore Norah Jones.
I know this feeling very well...no matter how mch you'll think you dont miss them, you will at some point. Nicely done..
Cheers!
So unfair to be shredded by longing even after the unfaithfulness of a broken promise! Sometimes, pretending just doesn't work. Such a good poem!
Boy can I relate! This could have been me in a past life! Tina, you are introducing us to your talent and the talent of others by linking to these other blogs. Thank you!
Been there...so difficult.
nowhere island
Longing and desires go hand in hand... LIke this one very much..

Funny how we can fool ourselves even though we know full well that we're NOT fooling ourselves.
Lovely. From vehement denial to acceptance. The wistfulness is palpable.
Thanks for sharing.

a fantastic poem for One Shot.....and of course we miss them..who are we trying to kid?? cheers pete
The long of longing can be the saddest..
Such a beautiful poem, Tina.. I could picture the flashback so clearly in my head..and then the reality where she sits and wonders, and misses it all.. oh.. why!!
Really felt for her here...
And the parentheses at those specific places - without or without making a WORLD of a difference! How cleverly you've done that... lovely!!
