Gary's a Winner and I'm a Winner, too!


Today is another one of those catch-up days. I've been running all over the place visiting the visitors of the three posts I was doing on Saturday. Remind me to just do ONE post a day from now on, OK?  If I haven't made it to you yet, don't worry.  I will.  ASAP.

First order of business. Gary, whose blog is klahanie, is our winner! My random number generator picked his comment. OK, it was my friend The Other Engineer who did it, but he's completely random so I trust the win. For those of you who have never been to Gary's place, please pay him a visit. He's got a wonderful sense of humor, and oozes compassion. His blog is a safe haven in a crazy world. If you like sarcastic, read his comments here at Life is Good. They are long and hilarious. If he wasn't on the other side of the pond I'd go martini drinking with him! Gary: you need to pick your gift card venue, and then I need your physical address so I can send it to you!

Meanwhile, I got a nice award from a brand-new blogger friend, Yadim Bromberg. I've said it before, I love these awards. I know some of you out there have tag free and award free blogs, and that's fine, we're all different, but I was the kid motivated by the gold star on the poster on the wall in the classroom and getting these awards is like that for me. The other great thing about them is I get to pick further recipients, so I see it as a community building event with shout-outs to blogger buddies. I don't know about you, but I love getting new visitors.

I'm answering the following questions, then I get to link to some other bloggers to receive this award, too. Yadin, thank you so much. Getting a sunshine award goes so well with Life is Good's new clothes, doncha think?



Favorite color: Turquoise. The exact shade of Life is Good's “skin”


Favorite animal: Lion. I'd love to meet Aslan :-)


Favorite number: 47. It's prime. I also like 91, because it's NOT prime, but the average person will say it is. You remember I'm a math nerd, right?

Favorite non-alcoholic drink: Diet Mountain Dew. Or, a McDonald's diet coke. Those of us out there who are connoisseurs of diet coke know that McDonald's mix is the best.

Facebook or Twitter: Facebook. Our society is so mobile now, few people spend their whole life in the same town. I'm hoping to. With fb, I've stayed close with many who've had to leave me.

My passions are: Writing, camping, knitting, cooking, traveling, and ending each day with chardonnay.

Getting or giving presents: Totally giving. I'm a totally spoiled American and lack for nothing, but I love to give presents, especially random ones for no reason.

Favorite patterns: Don't laugh. Math nerds can be really sensitive. My favorite pattern is the Fibonacci sequence... 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34...

Favorite day of the week: Sunday. Family day. Day of rest. Football! Guilt-free naps. Family movie night. Snack night. (I don't cook, everyone fends for themselves)

Favorite flower: Sunflower! Hello! Pretty obvious...

Congrats Gary! I'd love to meet Aslan as well but sadly i'm a water boy :P Born in the water, live in the water.

It's always nice to help out members of the community and I love showing my support to others and bringing attention to other blogs.

Off the top of my head (not that I can actually SEE the top of my head), I figured 91 would be a prime number. Who knew?
But, I do know what the Fibonacci sequence is.

Wow and thanks. Well cool that I won the prize, however, would you be so kind as to forward the prize to a worthy charity of your choice. Thank you.
Delighted to note you have received the "sunshine award" from your new blogger friend, Yadim :) Congrats to you, Tina and to all those you have bestowed the award upon. I shall check out those that I don't know. Although I've heard rumours that Gary from the blog "klahanie" can be somewhat sarcastic. I find that extremely hard to believe.
Aha, going through your answers to the questions. 'Farcebook, everyone's favourite social 'notworking' site. On Farcebook, my um 'friends' can keep up with my vitally important to their lives, profile updates. Such as, ' Gosh, I just got back from the store. Had to go to the store to buy some coffee and some chocolate chip cookies. I just went into the kitchen and made a cup of coffee. Now I'm drinking my coffee and eating a chocolate chip cookie. Careful of the keyboaaaaard..yikes!'
And speaking of math or as it's called in lil' ol' Britain, 'maths', I'm really fast at totalling up numbers...'I hasten to add'.
Tina, blogger extraordinaire, I have received this award before and you will have to be patient because it may me a little while before I can do this one again on my shy, humble and oh so unassuming site. I'm in the process of posting up an award I received a few days ago and so I hope you understand my delay in acknowledging your award. Thanks.
Just think, in less than two weeks time, your alphabet 'challenge', begins, yet again! I'm not sure I can control my excitement over it any longer. Time to go put another 'X' on the calendar as the month of March, draws to an end.

Congrats all around! I lurve the fibonacci sequence all to pieces. Have you ever written verse using this? It's a really fun challenge. And it looks really purty.

Yay for math nerds! Yeah, 91 is probably the toughest composite number to identify below 100 - multiples of 2, 5, and 11 are easy, and you can use the 'add up the digits' rule for multiples of three. And 49 is a perfect square. But seven by thirteen - that really doesn't give you any shortcuts. :)
