Magpie 29 Forest-Silence

In her dreams
she sees the place,
peering through the branches
as silent senior sentinels
quietly keep watch
over the cottage

A stone face
and shake shingle hair
the eyes of the windows
winking
in the waning light

It calls to her,
beckoning
"Come
rest
your
weary
soul
a
while
don'thurryofftothewhirlwindpaceoflife.
Sit quietly
and patiently
then you'll know
forest-silence peace"

But as she hurries towards it,
it disappears
if only
she could get there
instead of here
restless sleep,
aching heart
and forest-silence peace
unobtainable.

This is a magpie tale.

mmm. it's blissfully quiet in the forest… the smell of moss and dirt hangs in the still air.
thanks for bringing me there.

I love this and the sense of dream and the want...something the most long for and then fade back into the hurry and whirlwind....bkm

Very nice! I love your use of alliteration! I wanted it to end differently because you had described a fabulous place!!

AWESOME!!! Maybe if she walked slowed and without any apprehension, she will reach the house..and then she won't have to worry about the restlessness and lack of sleep..

Such a beautiful poem, Tina... Full of message too!! Really enjoyed reading it...

Beautifully written. This evoked such longing for the cool damp smell of the forest.
