Escape (Magpie 28)

Carefully staged
xanax, kicking in
(thirty ought to do it)
starting to drift...slip...
she clutched the bottle of gin, taking slow
even sips

Disoriented
she saw her toes poking out of the bubbles
Strange
She didn't remember painting them
It made her giggle to think
They'd find her
with painted toes

Sleepy-dreamy
Her eyes closed
she didn't notice
when she went under
and
it
was
over.

This is a magpie tale.

Ouch. Elegantly written piece about what does happen far too often.

I swear I had already posted my Magpie when I read this. We were on the same wavelength. Feels a little spooky. Well, I liked your offering.

Good Lord girl, you took me straight to the edge of the tub with that one. I think it was fantastic! Just the right amount of emotion, then lack of it, to get the feeling across to the reader.

Beautilly done, Tina!!! At least she smiled before she went...
It was a sad, but lovely read!!! I sensed the formation of a tear somewhere inside my eye... had to blink it back!

This is a great one! It hit me a lil closer because I have been here...This mental state...Where I came close...really really close...But I chose to live :)
