I still have one,
tucked away with
socks
to remember
the victory
I gathered them
all
of
them
of
them
the scraps of our love
and put them in
a shoebox
notes you'd left
under my windshield wiper
or my inbox
little yellow reminders
of the time
you cared
snippets of
the wax and wane
of tangled lives
no longer able
to pretend it
wasn't
over
burned them all,
with the shirt which still
held your scent hidden
up in flames, like our
too hot too fast love
I left the ashes
and then
I bought myself
the gloves,
a celebration of letting
it all go.
Now
all that's left
is ashes of memories
and one, lonely glove.
This is a magpie tale.

Excellent! I love the image of burning the past.
Oh that's lovely and sad. What a great poem!
oh very nice...if that is what it takes to let go...
Great imagery! Excellent. I felt like I could relate to the sadness as well as the victory.

I loved the phrase "too hot too fast." This is a very powerful poem.
Hello! I was here, asking for friendship. ;) Would you like to follow each others blogs? Advance Happy New Year. :D
Lovely tale, too hot too fast, left only the ashes and a single glove as reminders. Nice.
Poignant and powerful. Gloves are so personal. I can't bear to part with any of my past pairs
The wax and wane of tangled lives -- on Post-it notes. Very good.
I had a box like this one, years ago. Now nothing is left. Your Magpie is powerful.
"The wax and wane of tangled lives." Beautiful writing.
So sad when love is gone. All that promise seeping away like water through sand.
This s sad tale of letting go ...but it also tells of moving on ...but not fully.
Perhaps it's time for another fire. ;)
An appealing write of lost love. Hearts mend!
nice write Tina....I must say I have done exactly this....but memories are not so easily thrown away or burnt...
so glad the new year is here...ready to get writing and ready again...bkm
Having a small, sacrificial fire is a good way to draw a line under things. Nice Magpie.

the sad, soulful longing of a lonely glove...like the loon they mate for life
I did enjoy this
This is both sad and beautiful. But the ability to let go does deserve a celebration.
Gloves that hold to our hand....and your thoughts of celebrating in letting it all go...this is brilliant! I love this Tina! :-)
another lovely tale.
happy 2011.
Too hot,too fast
That's why we never do burn
