I can't believe it's Saturday Centus again! I love this themed writing meme hosted by the fab Ms. Jenny Matlock at "off on my tangent". If you'd like to join us, head over there for this week's prompt and the full rules. To sum up, you get 100 words to write your short, short story, inserting the prompt words intact anywhere in the story. Then just link up to Jenny's, and we'll come read yours! It's great fun, and I've found so many great blogs to follow. This week's prompt is in italics, the rest is mine.
I heard it again, despite my closed office door, slithering through the cracks of my partially opened windows and assaulting my tired ears.
♫ “Somewhere, over the rainbow...” ♪
That was just about enough. Emily had been singing the same song ALL morning.
“For pete's sake, Emily, can't you sing anything else? You're driving me crazy and I have a deadline! How am I supposed to write with you serenading the entire neighborhood?”
“Sorry, mom, but the audition is tomorrow. You know I want to be Dorothy.”
Sighing, I left my office. The deadline could wait. My daughter needed my attention.

Lovely take on the prompt! There is nothing more important than our kid's dreams and desires. That being said, I wish Mrs. M had picked your daughter instead of my protagonist :) Kat
Oh good! An audition for Dorothy, good idea with the prompt. And don't I know this song can get into your head!Mother in law is named Dorothy and we all are from Kansas. I don't have any ruby slippers though!
smiles. a tender moment...and i think mom made the right decision...smiles.
Kids know how to get our attention and hitthe guilt spot
Gosh! I wonder how many homes had that same scene with the Dorthys thing on the BBC recently!
Another great take on the prompt. Thoroughly enjoyed this.
=)
How wonderful this was. I'm really enjoying this week's Centus. I would never have thought about having a daughter auditioning for the Wizard of Oz. Good job.
Sweetly done. I could visualize this whole scene playing itself out.
Reminds me of my daughter and her performances in elementary school. I really like your job with this prompt...very real...Peace and blessings
My first time here! That was very well written. I need to check out the whole 100 word thing.
Good work once again. Fun read. I have always liked "Short" Stories.

This was a fun read with a lesson for each of us. Some things can wait.
Aww, that was such a sweet story, Tina! I loved where you went with the prompt this week. Excellent job!
What is ever so important is loving support for our children? You put your words together and formed a portrait for me. I could see and feel it all.
Thanks....................cj
What a good Mom! Those young, budding talents always come first! Deadlines will be there tomorrow...daughters won't. I truly enjoyed!
