The New Kid

Moving aside the new curtain
he peers.
Cautiously.
Through his window.
Yearning.
Hoping.

They all seem to know.
Unspoken rules,
and instinctively follow,
that pecking order.
Oldest,
Boldest,
King, pawn.

He yearns.
Mom encourages.
Agreatneighborhoodlotsofboysyourage”

But she has never had to be the one
Who peers.
Cautiously.
Through his window.
Yearning.
Hoping.

Maybe tomorrow.

New can be both scary AND exciting.
Most excellent 55 My Friend.
I hope you can churn one out earlier next Friday so that more people can enjoy.

Beautifully done. I felt that I was looking through the window with him. I may have to play this Flash Friday 55. It looks like fun.

Nice poem! I was in a poetic mood the other day and put my first poem on my blog! Take care!

Love this - very beautifully done, I too felt all the emotions of that little boy looking anxiously through his new window.
