Still Waiting

I know I shouldn't still watch for him,

He did the leaving me, with our baby still growing.

With hope still blooming in my heart. And didn't come back.

I'll be back. I've got to find work. If your dad finds out it's me, he'll send you away and take our baby away. But I'll come back, and I'll be the one to take you away, before they even find out there's a baby. We'll have our own life, then. It's our only chance.

I once was that girl. I once took the chance. I once waited for him.

Now when I stand in this window, I see things. I see little girls dancing, little boys wrestling. I see them wave to me. But if I leave the window, they are gone. Just like he is.

This woman mesmerized me.  I've had three miscarriages, and when I looked at her I saw longing, and disappointment.  I've never done the vignette option for a magpie, but then again, I haven't magpie in a while either...so no poem this time.

That is very sad, Tina. Both what you wrote and what you've been through.

Wow. that was really sad. Really beautiful and poignant. I felt the emotion. Very well done.

I'm really sorry for what you went through. I lost my son when he was three months old to SIDS. (It happened nineteen years ago) The loss of a child is something you never fully get over...but life goes on and brings new children and, along with them, new joy.

Hi Tina .. what a truly evocative piece of writing - and the picture too holds sad emotive thoughts.

Wonderful writing .. and I've always felt so much for people who've lost children .. not having my own is one thing - but realising that loss ... especially because it's only recently society has realised how hard this aspect of life is - it always seems cruel, so cruel and desperately poignant ..

Interesting to add in another twist - the cruel magpie ... they are not the most endearing of birds ...

My thoughts Tina ... sent with some hugs .... Hilary

I am truly sorry for what you went through. I hope I am not insensitive when I say that I loved what you have written. Your words touched me and I could feel the sadness.

This is sad ... perhaps there are things that you can't control, and we are left thinking and feeling sad about them !!!

I've never done a vignette, but I plan on trying one. Lovely and mournful.
