(In Parentheses) "Quotated"

Voices Carry
I wanna run down the street,
screaming
No retreat baby, no surrender
but I softly hear You remind me
All of my
ambitions hopes and plans
I surrender these
into Your hands

Now all them things that seemed so important,
well mister they vanished right into the air
I act like I don't remember, he acts
like he don't care

But He cares, He's seated on the throne
Exalted

I cross the beams,
standing on my own oxygen cord
tangled with
heart monitor
IV tube
and of course,
because you can't take
the write out of
the writer
the laptop cord

Tangled cords, is
what I've become, and
competing voices

(This pensione is not what we'd been led to expect)
Yet I have a view
Not The River
Rooftop, only

But from here, I can't spin cords
From my wrists, and
fly up, up and away
web, of
confusion

I wake with a
freight train rumbling through the middle of my head
I'm on fire
always tangled, struggling

Who is this King of Glory?
Who pursues me with His love?
But I want
I Have Become Comfortably Numb

Numb, to it all
the voices
the cords
the (I lack) surrender

So once again,
I put my hand in Yours,
Jesus Messiah,
Lord of All
Receive
Amazing Grace
My chains are gone,

I've been set free.

It's not really a secret, though I'm trying not to dwell there but instead in the land of contentment.  Health issues are my current lot in life. Half asleep, didn't have a poem done before bed. Mad and frustrated, songs, secular and sacred running through my head. So I invented my own form. Poets do that all the time, at least the real ones, and I am real. Here I sit. Real. Writing poetry. It isn't magic (Andrew...) it's just a form of expression. I express myself a LOT in the quotes of others.

If you want to play, see how many songs and movies make up the words I wrote. No, I'm not telling you how many to look for...today.

I'm shyly sneaking in late to d'Verse, in my pajamas, but I don't think they'll care. They are pretty mellow over there, which is why I like to hang out. You can too. Linky still open. Promote #d'Verse, @d'Verse please.

Movies and music? I counted nine.
You may have thrown that together but it fits and flows really well. And the ending is glorious.

I could only count seven, but as Alex points out a wonderful ending.

Not familiar enough with them to count the number. If Alex says 9 I believe him, he knows more than me about such things.

I thought you were back in hospital from the way it sounded, but I gather not. Sounds like things aren't going too well though. My sympathies.

I only got six, but I know there were a few wonderfully tangled in there that I couldn't place.

I caught a few of the quotes! Faith is what carries us when all seems beyond our grasp. Just saw that there is a new movie out on the 28th of February called "Son of God," and "Noah" out on March 28th. Even my 28 year old son, who has always been my questioner, my doubter, wants to see Noah. Hope you are doing okay. Be well.

Hope you finally got to sleep. I drink various sleepy teas to help relax me. They seem to work. Although, I have a tendency to wake around 2:30 AM.

Enjoyed your poem! God is speaking.

Hugs and chocolate!

hey...you're def. welcome in your pajamas as well...smiles... i know that feeling... the knowing he cares but the not feeling it..my fav character in the old testament is joseph - the one who had the big dreams and then ended up as a slave in egypt - in prison - how betrayed must he have felt - and yet - god was with him all the time...gosh... his story just touches me madly - and sorry for the rant...smiles

I think I got 3 or 4, and only music.

I was reading like you are singing it to me, smiles ~ I like that turn towards the end ~

Good to see you at D'verse ~

Beautiful prose. I totally get the whole "health issues" thing. It stinks when you have so many good intentions and hopes but are limited by what you can do physically. I love that you are seeking beauty through words, despite it all. Keep up the awesomeness, eh?

Well, I don't have time to try to figure out the lyrics/verses/whatever as I am on my way out the door, but I'm pretty sure I spied some Third Day.

I want magic. :P

I love it! And your picture is perfect too. I have no clue how many songs you mentioned, but a few danced right of the page and started singing in my heart.

I saw a Pink Floyd reference, and maybe one from Ghostbusters. but I'm not great at this game.

Good fun though. I hope things get better soon.

I found eight but it took some deep thought to do it.

I love, love, love, this poem. Not only for its originality in form, but the entire theme. As you know, I have health issue too. I have to turn them over to God every day. If I didn't, I would end up in the depths of a pity party.

Hugs to you, my friend!

This Colorado Winter does not help, does it? Health issues are hard to deal with. Glad your writing helps you do this. You have many friends out there in cyber-space.
