Just
a little longer?
Summer's
end
both
welcome
and
too soon
Carefree
days, used up
become
days, of
schedule
keeping,
routines
The
house-o-boys
will
be quiet
once
more
but
I'll miss
the
chaos
I
do know it's time, since
Columbine
have graciously
given
way
to
marigolds, already dressed
for
autumn
while
the sunflowers, so tall
majestic
are
losing their seeds
to
birds, preparing
I'm
not prepared
for
this transition
Not
yet
Time
tick-tocks
Flying
by, while I,
paralyzed
with
inevitable
changes,
grieve
The
end of childhood,
a
treasured friend,
off
into the world
daily
friendship,
exchanged,
for
electronic
communication
Stop
the world
Just
for a little bit
Give
them, give me
Just
a little longer
I'm
not ready, for
time's
relentlessly rapid
progression
lay
the hour glass,
on
its side
stop
the hours
keep
them young
Just
a little longer

And unfortunately, the older you get, the faster it flies by.
And those moments so fleeting. Captured in time, in your heart.

That was beautiful, Tina! Such power expression behind your lovely words,
"lay the hour glass,
on its side,
stop the hours
keep them young"
That's exactly how I feel when I look at my little girls growing before my eyes...

time needs to stop... i need to stop... so i stop.
school starts back tomorrow for me....i am looking forward to it though...its been great being home with the boys but i need the change of pace as much as they do...
That was beautiful. Although I'll be glad to see the heat and humidity give way to fall.
This was really amazing! Sometimes even I am surprised how fast time goes by.

Hi, Tina,
Lovely poem... Yup ... Time DOES FLY and as Alex says the older you get the faster it goes. So my 24 hours feels like ten... not good. LOL.
None of us ever are and Alex is so right the older you get the quicker it passes by.
The unknown is scary, we will get through this together, the hour glass won't stop, or even slow for just a moment, but that's life. We've done everything in our power to prepare for tomorrow and if I am to be grateful for only one thing in this moment it's that you are there with me...SMK
Very beautiful:) I'd prefer time to stand still every now and then...:)
Hi Tina .. couldn't agree more - if only the hour glass would lie on its side everyday for a few hours ..
It'd make life definitely easier ..
Still - I guess somehow we have to remember to appreciate each and every minute ..
Cheers for this summer's end .. Hilary
Your imagery is both beautiful and thought provoking. Yes Summer is ending but we must remember all the fun.
I'm not ready either, not even a little bit!
i've a few words for you: football season; unbearable heat and humidity. bring on september!
