He isn't invisible
holding the sign, but
he probably wants
anonymity
since he won't meet my eyes
Easier, to hide in the stereotype
Pan-handling bum, flying the
“God Bless Anything Helps”
than speak truth
his story
I wave him over, hand him my ashtray
ten bucks in change,
now a grin,
and I see.

Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
Lovely. One time when my daughter and I were leaving an event, late one evening in Charlotte, we spied a homeless man sleeping on a stoop. Maybe he was passed out, I don't know, didn't care as it didn't matter to what we were about to do. Remembering a big bag of change in the car (probably about $8-10 worth). we crept up, placed that bag near his head for him to find when he awoke and then silently slipped away.
Nicely done. Welcome back.
